Wow! What a lesson. Students were challenged to consider prior knowlege, and to really question their understanding of angles.
We planned a great lesson, and realized, as we presented the lesson, that students were confusing ‘interior angle sums’ with area and perimeter.
We realized that students need to be challenged to figure out what the problem is asking and how to get t the answer.

It is difficult to use the strategies as an adult problem solver… but I think I can manage… a picture, a chart, maybe a question to my partner… but how do we empower our students to know… to really know that they can use strategies, that the right answer is not the only thing that is important, but that thinking and explaining your thinking is above the right answer….
